Go to a Start-up Weekend

If you are thinking about doing something entrepreneurial and you'd like a start-up crash course, attend a Startup Weekend. I had the good fortune and pleasure to attend the first Boston Startup Weekend and thought it was great.  There were some difficult moments that I would describe as a culture clash between generations but hey, these things happen adn are interesting in themselves.  Enthusiasm, collaborative spirit, creativity and 100% participation in the weekend by a wide ranging set of mostly strangers made the weekend feel like swimming in the the primordial ooze.  The expectation that something was going to happen was thick.

The Boston weekend was a BIG dose of how Web 2.0 apps are being used to create buzz and community and a great place to rub shoulders with young first-time entrepreneurs as well as old timers jump starting new ideas for businesses.

Check out the Startup Weekend website and join in or sponsor one of these weekend intensives; no matter if your project is a hit or a flop, Startup Weekend delivers a cultural experience and opportunity for collaboration far greater in value than the low cost of admission.
